Description: Para definir los límites de la región de referencia (RRL) se consideraron los límites del DMI Cispatá, incluyendo todo el bosque de manglar dentro del área protegida en el año 2003, ya que sólo el DMI Cispatá cuenta con información cartográfica detallada disponible para contribuir al análisis de la ubicación de la deforestación. Al inicio del período histórico de referencia, la RRL contaba con 7.965 ha de bosque de manglares (87% de la RRL), 134 ha de otros tipos de bosque y 1.029 ha de área no forestal incluyendo cuerpos de agua (11% de la RRL) .Los bosques protegidos no fueron excluidos ya que más del 90% de los bosques de manglares considerados por el proyecto tienen alguna categoría de manejo o protección especial. La RRL tiene una superficie de 9.128 ha y se ubica entre las coordenadas 9°15'31.20" - 9°26'50.73" N y 75°43'19.54" - 76°0'27.73" W.
